The short version
- We do not ask for, collect or store any personal information through the site itself.
- We use no analytics, no advertising networks, no social media widgets and no tracking cookies.
- Fonts and images are served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact third-party services to show the pages.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security and reliability.
- If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
What your browser keeps on your device
Three tools remember something between visits. Each keeps it in your browser's local storage, where it never leaves your device and we cannot see it:
- The bingo calls trainer keeps your score under the name
htpb-trainer: a few numbers and nothing else. - Eyes Down, the daily puzzle on the bingo quiz page, keeps today's progress and your running results under
htpb-eyesdown-v1: the date, the groups you solved, your guesses and mistakes, and your streak. - The card maker on the bingo card generator and Christmas bingo pages keeps the list you typed into "Your own words", so it is still there next time, under
htpb-cards-generatororhtpb-cards-xmas. If you typed names, such as your guests', those names are what is stored, on your device only. The other card sets store nothing.
You can delete all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. If your browser blocks storage, the tools still work; they simply forget.
The bingo caller and the ticket generator run entirely in your browser and store nothing. The optional read-aloud feature uses the speech voice built into your device or browser. Depending on your device, the browser itself may process that speech; we do not receive it.
None of this is a tracking cookie, and none of it is used to identify you, so no cookie banner is needed.
Server logs
Like almost every website, the server that delivers these pages records basic technical information about each request: the address requested, the time, your IP address, and the browser and device type your browser reports. The logs are used only to keep the site running and secure, for example to investigate errors or block abusive traffic. They are not used to build profiles or for marketing, are not combined with other data, and are deleted on a rolling basis after a short period. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it only to deal with your message, for example to check and make a correction and to reply. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your message. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a record of corrections, and then deleted.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to other websites, such as BeGambleAware, the ICO and Wikimedia Commons, where our photographs come from. When you follow a link, the other site's privacy policy applies.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its use and to restrict how it is used. In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email you sent us. To exercise any of these rights, email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
The site is a general reference that anyone can read, and the party games are suitable for families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, for instance by adding a feature, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
