What to write to us about
How to Play Bingo is a reference, and a reference is only as good as its corrections. These are the messages we most want to receive:
- A call we have missed. If your hall uses a nickname for a number that is not in our list of bingo calls, tell us the number, the call and, if you know it, where it is used and where it comes from.
- An origin we have wrong. Many call origins are folk explanations. If you have a source, such as a book, a recording or a newspaper cutting, that settles one, we would like to see it.
- A rule you play differently. House rules vary, for example on late claims or extra prizes. We describe the common version, but we are happy to note well-established variations.
- A problem with the tools. If the caller or the ticket generator does something odd, tell us your device and browser and what happened.
- A photograph credit. If you are the author of one of the photographs we use and would like the credit changed, let us know.
How corrections are decided
We change a page when the evidence supports the change, not simply because a message asks for it. For a call or an origin, that usually means a printed source, a recording or several independent players describing the same thing. For a rule, it means showing that it is a common practice rather than one hall's house rule. Where the evidence is mixed, we would rather describe both versions than pick one, and the calls list already marks disputed origins as disputed.
What we cannot help with
We do not run games or accounts, so we cannot help with a problem at a bingo hall or an online bingo site, such as a disputed win, a withdrawal or an account closure. For those, contact the operator first. If the operator is licensed in Great Britain and you cannot resolve the complaint, the operator must tell you about its independent dispute resolution service, and the Gambling Commission publishes guidance on how to complain.
We also do not accept advertising, sponsored content, guest posts or link requests, and we do not reply to them.
What happens to your message
We read every message and aim to reply to corrections within a couple of weeks. If a correction is accepted, the page is updated. We use your email address only to reply to you, and we do not add it to any list. Our privacy policy explains how long messages are kept.
If gambling is causing you problems
We are not a support service, but free, confidential help is available. BeGambleAware offers advice and a route to treatment, and the National Gambling Helpline is open 24 hours a day. You can find both at BeGambleAware.org. If you want to stop gambling online, GamStop lets you exclude yourself from all online gambling sites licensed in Great Britain.
